INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) is a premier international professional organization that promotes best practice and excellence in public administration and management in Africa through research, publications, training, seminars, consultancy, conferences and awards.
We are looking for a team of dynamic interns to fill three positions as indicated below:
1. IT INTERN
AAPAM is seeking a self-directed IT intern with a passion for technology, innovation, and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with our IT Team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Website administration
- Database management
- Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems
- Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support
- Organize and maintain IT resources
- Lend IT support in areas such as cyber security, programming, analytics, and back-up
- Any other roles as they arise
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems from a recognized institution
- Experience working in a fast-paced organization
- Experience with software such as Zoom, Ms Teams and leading content management systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well in teams
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication
2. ACCOUNTING INTERN
Are you a motivated accounting professional who is ready to apply knowledge of financial terms and principles to an authentic real-world experience? You will assist with a wide range of duties, including analyzing data, preparing financial reports, and learning about varied accounting activities.
Responsibilities
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, International Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting from a recognized institution
- Experience working in a fast-paced organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Quick books
- Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. PROGRAMME INTERN
Programme intern will assist in the formulation of planning in line with organization vision and mandate. The intern should have a genuine interested in learning all aspects of public administration and expect to learn the field from top to bottom. It is essential that applicants to this position have strong communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details and support the progamme department in day-to-day administrative tasks and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the preparation of concept notes, project proposals, weekly reports, background papers, briefing notes, talking points and other relevant documents;
- Provide support in the coordination and substantive servicing of meetings, including coordinating participation of key stakeholders, contributing to the preparation of relevant documents and undertaking other related tasks;
- Support the preparation of presentations and other visual materials;
- Assist in the development of databases and other office management tools;
- Support the production of web stories and updating of social media;
- Undertake other assignments as required.
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree in Public Administration/ Public policy/ Political Science/ International Relations from a recognized institution
- Experience working in a fast-paced organization.
- Project Management skills
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ready to learn and work in a demanding environment, collaborating with African governments and international organizations
- Fluency in English – both written and oral communication; Good communication and interpersonal skills. French language is desirable
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
- Fast learner, self-driven, open to new ideas and hardworking.
- Team working skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to take directions and multi-task
Remuneration: The project will pay a monthly stipend
